ISM

ISM (Integrative Sports Medicine) is a combination of alternative medicine treatments. These regenerative treatments activate the body’s natural healing abilities. Whether you’re a professional/amateur athlete, an active weekend warrior, or a grandmother dealing with knee pain, ISM offers the chance to restore your health, return to your dynamic life, and keep you there!

Treatment modalities

Medical Acupuncture

Fine, sterile needles are inserted into the body at specific points to create a pathway for the flow of energy. Acupuncture brings balance to the Autonomic Nervous System by emphasizing Parasympathetic signals versus Sympathetic signals. Because we live in a high stress/Sympathetic environment, acupuncture can bring healing and restore homeostatic balance for the patient.

Electro-Acupuncture

Electro clips are attached to the acupuncture needles, where a very specific frequency is sent into the body via a stimulation machine. This treatment is similar to a T.E.N.S unit, but the needles cause the stimulation to penetrate deeper into soft tissue. Generally, electro-acupuncture is received well by athletes and non-athletes to help speed up recovery, healing, and activation of muscles.

Auricular/Scalp Acupuncture

Points are treated to unblock the body using techniques of Y.N.S.A (Yamamoto New Scalp Acupuncture) and Dr. Strittmatter’s ear points.

Grounding Acupuncture

Acupuncture points are are connected to grounding wires.  This causes absorption of electrical nutrition in form of electrons.

IntraMuscular Stimulation (IMS)

IMS (Intramuscular Stimulation) is a form of acupuncture used to cause neuromuscular balance. It aids in relaxing spastic muscle tightness and restoring proper muscle and nerve balance.

Prolotherapy

A procedure in which dextrose/irritant is injected into ligaments, tendons and soft tissue. This initiates the body’s healing natural mechanism to permanently heal. It is a non-surgical regenerative treatment for ligaments, tendons and joints.

Prolozone

Using prolotherapy with ozone.

Ozone Therapy

Medical grade oxygen is converted to ozone using an ozonator. Ozone is used to create a healing response in the body. Improves circulation by enhancing blood flow while stimulating mitochondria to increase cellular energy and oxygen in the body.

Neural Therapy

Approach used to treat disturbances of the autonomic nervous system by injecting anesthetics into the nerves, scars, and other tissue. Interference fields/blockages at certain sites of the body are responsible for energy blockages. Restoring proper communication within the Nervous System with injections can help promote homeostatic balance within the patient.

Biopuncture

Injection therapy in which specific Acupuncture points are injected with highly diluted natural products, in order to initiate natural repair mechanisms. This is used to treat acute and chronic musculoskeletal problems.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger points are located by palpation. Injection method using diluted Procaine/Lidocaine to immediately reset “triggered” spastic/shortened muscles. It restores muscle balance within the tissue.

Piezoelectric Stimulation

Uses quartz crystals to initiate an electric charge that polarizes acupuncture meridians for healing. Helps with resetting and stimulating muscle tissue.

Sound Vibration Therapy

A specified tuning fork (Schuman’s harmonic frequencies) “cleans” blockages/distortions in the body’s energy field thus restoring the Autonomic Nervous System.

Laser Therapy

Scalar energy therapy using Schuman’s frequency to initiate healing responses within the body and cells. Acupuncture, Ligamentous, Tendinous and Joint points are stimulated using this signal.

Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM)

Four Tenets of Osteopathy:

  1. Understanding that the body is a whole (holistic approach).

  2. Structure and function are interrelated.

  3. Initiate the natural healing mechanism of the body.

  4. Sound, medical approach is to consider all of the above.

Cranial Sacral (OCF):

Diagnostic and treatment modality that utilizes the mobility and motility of the Primary Respiratory Mechanism (PRM). It takes into account the cranial and sacral movements as they affect the PRM.

Autonomic Response Testing (ART)

Biofeedback, enhanced testing of the Autonomic Nervous System as created by Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt. Non-invasive testing to ascertain deficiencies and stressors to the body.
