Clinical

How do I make an appointment?

Please call us! 856.270.6800

What is involved in a visit?

The doctor will evaluate the patient, and decide on a course of action. Generally, injections are given according to the complaint. Acupuncture is done; and, for most patients, electro-stimulation is administered. Supplements will be suggested if Dr. Shin finds that they will benefit you.

How long should I expect to be at the office?

New patient appointments generally last about an hour. Follow up appointments takes about 30 min.

What do I need to bring to the visit?

If you have any studies (X-rays, MRI’s, or any other documents or images) related to your complaint, it is good to bring them, or send them to our medical fax number 856.324.5958 so that it may be scanned to your chart.

Do you need to wear anything specific?

No. We provide gowns for you to wear during treatment. However, if you prefer, you can be treated in your own comfortable clothing or bring athletic wear to change into (shorts and tank top, etc.).

How should I prepare my body BEFORE the visit?

Hydrate, eat a light meal (an empty stomach is not optimal), and do not take any anti-inflammatory medications 24 to 48 hours prior to your visit.

How should I care for my body AFTER the visit?

Hydrate, eat a light meal, and rest for 24 to 48 hours. Do not take any anti-inflammatory medications 24 to 48 hours after the visit. In general, stretching and light cardio is okay but wait 24 to 48 hours to do a full workout routine. More instructions will be given.

What type of injections are used?

We use various types of injections depending on the clinical situation. Some examples are Prolotherapy, Neural Therapy and Biopuncture. We use different types of injection mixtures that include Lidocaine, Procaine, Saline, Dextrose, etc.

I am diabetic, will the dextrose in the injections cause my blood sugar to rise?

It may cause a slight increase, but not enough to register on a glucometer.

Are there any side effects from the injections?

You will feel general soreness around the injection sites, but this usually subsides within 24 to 48 hours. Most patients experience relief within 24 hours.

Should I take medicine to help relieve the soreness from the treatment?

No. Medications like Ibuprofen (anti-inflammatory drugs) slows the healing process that was started with the injections. Epsom salt baths can help with decreasing soreness.
